Employment Opportunities

Sloan Award Winners 3 Years Running

Community Management Group is an exclusive Homeowners and Condominium Association management company.  Our group was founded on the principal that Association Board members are volunteers.  Our goal in working with our clients is to carry their burden and free them from the day-to-day responsibilities of managing their Community.

While other companies manage Associations as a sideline to sales, leasing, vacations & rentals, we are unique in that we exclusively manage Homeowners and Condominium Associations.  That's all we do, and nobody does it better.

This narrow business focus enables us to concentrate on providing the highest level of service to every property owner, while offering professional consultation and ongoing training to Board members.  Our team of trained, experienced managers has a strong network in South Carolina and nationally.  We correspond to share experiences, solve clients’ problems and stay current in our field.

Client satisfaction is not a goal - it is a requirement.  This is a tough business - We work hard, but we have fun.  It is always interesting and dynamic.

Community Management Group is a three-time winner of the prestigious Alfred P. Sloan Award for Workplace Flexibility. Our employment philosophy is that every member of the team at every level is important.  Each of our opinions, ideas and knowledge count!  We build in flexibility to work responsibilities in an atmosphere of mutual trust and respect.  We recognize that employees often spend more waking hours with their co-workers than their own families, so we foster a comfortable atmosphere with humor and camaraderie and without office politics and the associated unpleasantness.  We genuinely like our co-workers.

Vast increases in homes managed over the past few years brings with it the need for expanding our current team of thirty-six.  All applicants are drug screened and background checked before an offer of employment will be made. Employment is "at will" and conditional upon compliance with a detailed Employee Manual and company policies.

Turnover in our staff is far more than disruptive.  Please do not apply for any position unless you are looking to stick with a position for the long term. Please think of these as career positions within a tightly-knit team and not a stop along the way to somewhere else.

We are occasionally seeking managers for a portfolio of Communities in the Charleston area.  We "team manage" properties with all management staff taking ownership of owner calls, property problems and regular responsibilities.  Each manager has individual responsibilities for his/her communities and interacts directly with the Board President, while co-managing properties with other managers.  Managers are supported by a Covenants Enforcement staff member, an in-house maintenance team, administrative and clerical staff and an accounting department.  We are highly selective in our managers and specific or relevant experience is required.  Successful managers have world-class written and oral communications and interpersonal skills, ability to effectively interact with people of all demographics, above-average working knowledge of Microsoft Office, superior organization and multi-tasking skills, a thick skin and a positive attitude.

We are currently seeking Administrative and Reception staff.  These positions rotate through a receptionist desk but primarily support the management team in various customer service and coordination capacities. The position requires the highest level of detail orientation and extreme multitasking skills, the highest level of phone courtesy and excellent written and verbal communications skills.  You will receive often-negative communications and successful people will bring an upbeat, positive attitude with ability and willingness to work in a "team-family" atmosphere at a ridiculously fast pace.

We are occasionally seeking qualified staff for Covenants Enforcement Administration.  These positions share in touring a large portfolio of properties weekly in our company vehicle and generating notices through our proprietary software, while logging owner communications. The goal is rules compliance with the least amount of member anxiety and annoyance.  Therefore the position requires careful observations and administration, and telephone and e-mail contact with people of all sorts.  The highest level of phone courtesy is required with excellent written and verbal problem-solving skills.  This is a rules enforcement position and you will receive often-negative communications. Successful people will bring a  a thick skin and a non-confrontational tone, an upbeat, positive attitude with ability and willingness to help people understand rules and to clearly and positively explain the Associations' reasoning for enforcement.

We are occasionally seeking qualified staff in Bookkeeping and Accounts Payable as we continue to grow. These are high-trust positions requiring persons of the highest integrity.  Preference is given to applicants with a degree and experience in fund accounting and high volume AP.  Those who seek a long term career in Accounting will bring an advantage.

We are occasionally seeking an experienced Accounts Payable clerk or someone with broader bookkeeping/accounting experience willing to focus on AP Using our proprietary system and a very organized, high-functioning process this position will handle 300-600 invoices per week.  It's busy but very manageable. This is an unusual accounting group and the department staff are fun and interesting people if perhaps occasionally moderately annoying to the author of this description.    Dull, inflexible or cantankerous people needn't apply.

We are occasionally seeking qualified staff in on-site maintenance, on-site janitorial and roving maintenance.  The roving positions require own truck and tools and the above-average pay compensates.  We also provide a generous mileage allowance and benefits of health insurance and vacation & sick time.  Preference is given to applicants with experience and verifiable references.  Those who seek to learn and have SC Electrical and/or CPO certification will bring an advantage.

Application below, or send resume and any applicable references via e-mail or fax.

Verifiable personal and employment references required for all positions.  All applicants will be aptitude screened, drug tested and background checked before an employment offer will be made.  EOE Drug-free, harassment-free workplace.
